Welcome to the Research and Education Center for Fair Labor

The Research and Education Center for Fair Labor is an outreach program of the Graduate School of Social Sciences, Hitotsubashi University. This center was just set up in March 2007 to play a much needed role as a bridge between the university and the labor community in Japan. We conduct participatory action researches on labor issues in collaboration with labor organizations and civic groups, and provide educational programs and workshops for students and workers.

The Research and Education Center for Fair Labor was born because of the growing needs for innovative collaboration among scholars, students, labor unions, and civic groups to cope with the dramatic changes that have overtaken the Japanese economy in the past several years, such as drastic deregulation in the labor market and the resultant increase of contingent workers and migrant workers.
